Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Dear families,
Thank you all for expressing interest in Dominion Academy. This school was a dream inspired by a love of classical, Christian education and wanting to provide a safe school for the children of Edmonton to learn and grow in Christ. We have met many wonderful people along this journey and are very grateful for their presence and prayers.
While we have managed to secure conditional accreditation from Alberta Education we have not been able to secure a facility at this time. We had many plans in place in order to create a location for our school, including selling our family home and family acreage. However, inflation and increasing land speculation have priced us out of the market even with these sums available. We have attempted to reach out to churches to rent space, calling and emailing every single church on the western half of Edmonton that has the appropriate zoning for a school. All were firm negatives.
At this point the Board has attempted twice to have Dominion Academy start up in time for the coming school year and both times we have run into a lack of facilities as our main issue. Even with our strategic planning we were unable to mitigate the factors beyond our control. To us, this is a clear sign that this is not the right time for this project. "When the time is right, I, the LORD, will make it happen.” Isaiah 60:22. We know that one day Dominion Academy will come to fruition, but it will not be in time for the 2026/27 school year.
Our family has been homeschooling for this past year in preparation for starting at Dominion Academy and now, with the disappointing but understandable decision of the Dominion Academy Board, we will be helping to start a new classical, Christian homeschooling co-op near Leduc. If your family would like resources to pursue classical education in your own way please feel free to reach out and we can point you in the direction of resources we had earmarked for Dominion Academy.
Thank you all for your prayers,
Jennifer Guiney, Board Chair
Rigorous, Virtuous, and Rooted in Tradition
Our school follows the Classical approach, focusing on the development of the whole child through a rigorous curriculum rooted in the traditional liberal arts. We emphasize Christian moral formation, critical thinking, and a deep sense of responsibility to liberty and virtue. By returning to time-honored educational values, we prepare students to think independently, act with integrity, and contribute meaningfully to society.
Educational Offerings
Dominion Academy is a classical Christian school dedicated to timeless education. Starting in 2025/26 with kindergarten to grade three, we plan to grow annually until serving preschool through grade twelve.
If there is enough interest in higher grades we will endeavour to offer those classes as well.
Our Core Values:
Classical Curriculum
As an independent school in Alberta, Dominion Academy follows the Alberta Education Program of Studies while enriching it with a classical, faith-centered approach. Students engage in Biblical Studies, exploring scripture to deepen their understanding of God’s Word.
