Our Beliefs, Mission, and Vision

HomeOur Beliefs, Mission, and Vision

We are proud to be free citizens of the Dominion of Canada.

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom
2 Corinthians 3:17
Mission
To deliver a classical education grounded in a Christ-centered worldview.
  • Joining With The Family
    • We believe that equipping students to maximize their God-given potential is a shared responsibility between the school and the family, where the parents are ultimately responsible for their children.  Dominion Academy is dedicated to fostering open and honest communication and partnering with families in the education and spiritual development of their children.
  • Maximize God-Given Academic Potential
    • We believe each student has been uniquely “wired” by God and given a particular set and measure of gifts, talents and abilities.  By teaching all subjects from a Christian worldview, with the Bible as the foundation, Dominion Academy inspires students to excel academically, physically, emotionally, and spiritually to reach their personal God-given potential.
  • Realize Christ-like Character In Each Student & Staff Member
    • We believe that realizing Christ-like character takes intentional effort and focus.  Therefore, we spend time and effort designed to develop our collective walk with Christ to become good examples of His character.
Vision

To form men and women rooted in God’s wisdom and virtue, devoted to the common good, and guided by His unchanging truth, goodness, and beauty in all aspects of life.

  • Teaching Minds
    • By combining classical education with modern scholarship, we equip students to seek wisdom, think deeply, reason clearly, discern and love truth, all through the lens of Christ.
  • Cultivating Heart & Soul
    • We seek to inspire students to develop a heart for worship, prayer, and obedience to God’s Word.  Through discipleship and biblical teaching, we guide students toward a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Healthy Bodies
    • We encourage students to honour God by developing physical health, discipline, and stewardship of their bodies as the temple for the Holy Spirit.
Our Philosophy
  1. Truth as the Foundation of Learning
    • We believe that all truth is God’s truth. Teaching should lead students to seek and recognize truth in every discipline, whether in mathematics, history, literature, or science, as part of God’s created order.
  2. Holistic Formation of Mind, Body, and Soul: Paideia
    • Education is not limited to intellectual development; it encompasses the formation of the whole person—mind, body, and soul. We strive to foster academic excellence, physical discipline, and spiritual maturity.
  3. Engaging the Trivium: Grammar, Logic, Rhetoric
    • We teach through the classical method, emphasizing the Trivium. The grammar stage lays the foundation of knowledge, the logic stage builds reasoning skills, and the rhetoric stage develops effective communication and persuasive argumentation.
  4. Cultivating a Love for Learning
    • We seek to inspire curiosity and a lifelong love for learning, encouraging students to explore, question, and engage deeply with the world around them. True learning, grounded in faith, fosters both intellectual growth and spiritual understanding.
  5. Discipleship Through Education
    • Our teaching goes beyond the classroom, equipping students to walk with Christ, making learning a tool for personal discipleship. We model how faith intersects with learning, guiding students in developing Christlike character and virtue.
  6. Developing Critical Thinking and Wisdom
    • We emphasize critical thinking and intellectual rigor, teaching students to reason logically, analyze thoughtfully, and engage in dialogue with the great ideas of the past and present. This cultivates wisdom rooted in Scripture and the classical tradition.
  7. Integration of Faith and Learning
    • All learning is seen through the lens of a Christian worldview. We strive to integrate Scripture with every subject, showing students that their education is an opportunity to grow in both knowledge and faith, glorifying God in all they do.
  8. Encouraging Virtue and Character Formation
    • Academic achievement is important, but the cultivation of Christ-like virtue—including, but not limited to, humility, integrity, patience, and compassion—are a major part of the ultimate goal. We teach students to live out their faith with moral excellence, to pursue what is True, Good, and Beautiful, preparing them to serve others in love and humility.
  9. Engagement with the Classical Tradition
    • The study of classical texts, ancient wisdom, and the rich traditions of Western thought is essential in shaping students’ intellectual and moral development. These texts form a framework through which students engage with God’s truth in history, literature, and philosophy.  The curriculum draws from the rich heritage of human thought and creativity, featuring enduring works that illuminate the universal questions of life and point to the Creator: Why do we exist? What is the nature of justice? How can we live lives of purpose and virtue? From the geometry of Pythagoras to the plays of Shakespeare, students encounter perspectives that transcend time and culture, equipping them to think critically and engage meaningfully with the most profound questions of human existence.
  10. Mentoring and Relationship-Based Teaching
    • Teaching is relational. We believe that true education happens within a mentoring relationship between teachers and students, where educators model Christian character, offer guidance, and challenge students to grow both academically and spiritually.
  11. Responsibility and Stewardship
    • We teach students to view their education as a stewardship—an opportunity to develop their gifts and abilities for God’s glory and for the good of others. Academic success is not an end in itself but a means to serve God and society.
  12. Aiming for Excellence in All Things
    • We believe that as Christians, we are called to pursue excellence in all areas of life, including education. We teach our students to strive for truth, beauty, and goodness in all facets of their lives. Whether in academics, sports, or service, we encourage students to give their best, striving to honor God in all they do.
  13. Social Media & Devices
    • Social media and smartphones are unnecessary to a virtuous, joy-filled life and are distractions to the rhythm of learning and living.  Smartphones and smart technology are banned from campus during school hours and activities.
  14. Physical Development
    • We believe that regular physical development is an essential component of a well-rounded education. Through outdoor activities, physical education, and sports, we aim to cultivate discipline, resilience, and a strong sense of teamwork in our students. We view the body as a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19), and as such, we encourage students to care for their physical well-being, developing strength, endurance, and a love for active living. Outdoor activities, in particular, offer opportunities to connect with God’s creation, fostering a sense of awe and stewardship for the world around them.
  15. Personal Responsibility
    • We reject the current culture of unaccountability  and we believe that both students and teachers are called to embrace personal responsibility and justice, with students taking ownership of their learning, character development, and actions, while teachers model integrity, accountability, and a commitment to guiding students in truth and excellence.
  16. Continuum Of Time
    • We recognize that society is not merely the product of the present but a covenant between generations. Each generation owes a debt of gratitude to those who came before and carries the responsibility to prepare the way for those yet to come. Our role as educators is to provide students with access to “the best that has been thought and said,” inviting them into the great conversations of history. In doing so, they become stewards of a cultural and spiritual inheritance, prepared to build on it with humility and gratitude.

Children should remain innocent.

so that you may be innocent and pure as God's perfect children, who live in a world of corrupt and sinful people. You must shine among them like stars lighting up the sky, as you offer them the message of life.

Philippians 2:15-16
