Statement of Faith

HomeStatement of Faith
  • We believe that God reveals Himself through the creation, preservation, and government of the universe. We believe that God makes Himself more clearly and fully known through the Scriptures, which are the only inerrant and infallible Word of God, our ultimate and final authoritative rule for faith and practice. These Scriptures are made up of 66 books, from Genesis to Revelation, the complete revelation of His will for salvation, and the ultimate authority  by which every realm of human knowledge and endeavour should be judged. The authority of which depend not upon the testimony of any man or church, and are all to be received as the Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16–17;2 Peter 1:20-21)
  • We believe that there is but one living and true God, who is infinitely perfect, eternally existent in three Persons of one power, substance, and eternity—Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19 , John 14:26)
  • We believe in the true deity and full humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ, such that two distinct natures, divine and human, were inseparably joined together in one person, without conversion, composition, or confusion. We believe in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father and in His personal return in power and glory.(Colossians 1:13-20, John 1:14)
  • We believe that Adam was made from the dust of the ground and formed after God’s image and likeness, which was good, righteous, and holy. Because of Adam’s sin all mankind is in a state of rebellion against God. For the salvation of such lost and sinful men, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely necessary.
  • We believe we are called to repent from our sinful nature, be baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38) Salvation is by grace through faith alone (Ephesians 2:8),
  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life, as the Spirit of Christ within us enables us to do freely and cheerfully what the will of God revealed in Scripture requires to be done. We believe that good works are only those which arise from true faith, conform to God’s Word, and are done for His glory. (Romans 3:23-26)
  • We believe God has appointed a day when He will judge the world in righteousness through Jesus Christ. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; those who are saved to the resurrection of life, and those who are lost to the resurrection of damnation. (John 5:24-30)
  • We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. All who are united to Christ as Head of the Church are united to one another in love, and have communion in each other’s gifts and graces. (Philippians 2:2, Romans 12:6a)
  • We believe that God defined marriage as the life-long covenant between one man and one woman, and that all forms of sexual activity outside of marriage are sin. (Matthew 19:4, 1 Corinthians 7:2)
  • We believe that God immutably creates each person to reflect His image as male or female.(Genesis 1:27)

We believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord. Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and was born of a virgin, Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into Hades, and on the third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into Heaven, where He sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From Heaven He shall come to earth again to judge the living and the dead.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, one holy catholic church, the communion of all true saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the gift of everlasting life.

Apostle’s Creed

Daniel 7:13-14

13 “I was watching in the night visions, And behold, One like the Son of Man, Coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, And they brought Him near before Him.

14 Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, Which shall not pass away, And His kingdom the one Which shall not be destroyed.

The dominion of Jesus was foretold over 500 years before his birth by the prophet Daniel.

Genesis 1:26-28

26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

We were given dominion over the fish, birds, cattle and every creeping thing on earth, and were made in the image of God at the time of creation.

Why 'Dominion'?

The word Dominion means that which is mastered or ruled. In our case we apply it to the idea that we are sinners who are ruled by a benevolent God, and also to the virtue of Temperance and learning to master oneself.

It comes from dominus’ Latin for ‘Master’ and is a reminder of the constant presence of God in our lives.
